I don’t live in the United States, can I still have coaching sessions with Birch Cove?

Yes, coaching sessions are available regardless of your location. Sessions are conducted online, ensuring accessibility no matter where you reside. The only requirement is that you have internet connectivity. If you're concerned about the timezone, please reach out to us, and we'll do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs where possible. However, please note that all sessions will be charged in USD, and you will be responsible for any foreign transaction fees that may apply.

What is your 1:1 Coaching cancellation policy?

In the event that you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid forfeiting your payment. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your payment for the booked session. If you fail to show up for a scheduled session without prior notice, you will not be eligible for a refund. Once a session is booked and paid for, there are no refunds or credits issued. We are committed to working with you to find a solution that suits your needs, however we honor and prioritize all of our existing clients' schedules to ensure that we can maintain a high level of service.

What credentials does a Health Coach Have from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN)?

Health Coaches who graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) are recognized, affiliated, or approved by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), the International Association for Health Coaches (IAHC), Qualifi, the International Coaching Federation (ICF), The Health Coach Alliance (HCA), the Health Coaches Australia and New Zealand Association (HCANZA), and the UK International Health Coach Association (UKIHCA). Many coaches go on to become certified members of these and other associations and continue to demonstrate proficiency in coaching skills and uphold high ethical and professional standards. Are Health Coaches Medically trained?

Do you accept health insurance?

Birch Cove does not accept health insurance. Birch Cove operates as a private service, focusing on providing personalized health coaching and support outside of insurance coverage. This allows us to maintain flexibility in tailoring our services to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. Is health coaching suitable for me if I already have medical conditions?

In many cases, yes, health coaching can complement medical care by focusing on lifestyle changes that support your medical treatment. Coaches can support you with your goals aligned with your overall health needs. However, please note that health coaching with Birch Cove is not a substitute for medical treatment, diagnosis, or therapy. If you are currently dealing with complex health challenges such as cancer, life-threatening or degenerative illnesses, severe mental health issues including depression or suicidal thoughts, or a history of abuse, then health coaching with Birch Cove is not the right fit for you. In these cases, it's essential to seek the appropriate medical care, therapy, or support from a licensed organization for your situation and experience. For conditions like autoimmune challenges, including diabetes, thyroid illness, or metabolic syndrome, clients must also be under the care of a medical practitioner. Depending on the circumstances, you may be referred onward to a medical specialist, mental health professional, or other healthcare providers to ensure you receive the care you need.

Are you hipAa compliant?

At Birch Cove, while we prioritize client privacy, it's important to note that Health Coaches are generally not required to be HIPAA compliant. HIPAA compliance typically applies to healthcare providers and entities that electronically transmit personal health information to third parties, such as insurance companies or other healthcare professionals, which does not typically apply to Health Coaches.

However, for wider awareness, if a Health Coach is employed by a hospital or another medical facility, they would adhere to the employer's HIPAA procedures. If you have any specific concerns or questions regarding privacy and confidentiality, please feel free to discuss them with us directly.

Are health coaches licensed?

Health Coaching involves educating clients about general healthy eating and lifestyle choices, helping clients develop and set achievable goals, and transform their good intentions into practical actions. Health Coaches operate in various settings and offer a range of services, including providing general wellness and nutrition information, options, general recommendations and guidance, motivation, and skill-building. Health coaches aim is to help clients establish healthier lifestyle routines and achieve personal health and well-being goals.

While a license is not required to practice as a Health Coach, a state license for the practice of "Dietetics/Nutrition" is required for professionals who provide advanced personalized nutrition care in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, state benefit meal planning, and / or for treating specific diseases.
